Personal Top Five
Maybe you know High Fidelity from Nick Hornby. Since I really liked the book and some behaviors of the main character, I give here my personal "Top Five" in various categories. I decided to distinguish between single and album charts for music. The singles remember me of different times and occasions in my life and therefore may not be used to interpret my taste of music. The album charts actually represent my music taste in a more appropiate way.
Music (Singles)
- Bitter Sweet Symphony (The Verve)
- Man On The Moon (R.E.M.)
- Wherever (The Calling)
- Rollercoaster (Bleachers)
- It's the End of the World as We Know It (And I Feel Fine) (R.E.M.)
Music (Album)
- Automatic for the People (R.E.M.)
- Die Reklamation (Wir sind Helden)
- Es ist Juli (Juli)
- Jagged Little Pill (Alanis Morissette)
- Best of 1980-1990 (U2)
Moreover, I distinguish between books and literature. I refer to the first ones, when I think of books, which I can easily read on train or on bus. The latter ones are books, which impressed me in a certain way like the style of writing or the actual plots.
Literature
- Das Glasperlenspiel
- Am Hang
- Die Bücherdiebin
- Der Vorleser
- Das Fliehende Pferd
Books
- Hitchhikers Guide through Galaxy
- Wild Swans
- Lord of the Rings
- The Physician
- Guards guards
One last word to the my movie and theater play selection: I am aware of the fact that there are many movies that I have never seen. Nevertheless I think you should definitely have seen the following five movies. Well, we all know that theater plays depend quite a bit on the actors and hence there is an uncertainty in my choice (and yes, I visited more than five plays).
Movies
- The Devil's Advocate
- Festen (Dogma 95)
- Gattaca
- Dr. Strangelove
- Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels
Theaters
- The Shape of Things
- Das Urteil von Nürnberg
- Die Geschworenen
- Psychose
- Der Menschenfeind
