Offers for Students

This page describes the options for producing scientific work in the ELSA working group.
From the third semester onwards, physics students also have the opportunity to work as student assistants (SHK/WHF) or student operators at the accelerator facility.

To the current job offers

Research offers in our working group

Physics students have the opportunity to complete bachelor's, master's and doctoral theses in our working group.

Bachelor Thesis

The four-month bachelor's thesis is designed as the final module of the bachelor's degree and offers a valuable insight into the everyday work of our working group. As part of an independent research project in the areas of lasers and optics, with a focus on beam diagnostics, electronics, with a focus on the development and layout of electronic circuits, simulation of beam properties, design and development of accelerator components or medical physics, students have the opportunity to carry out scientific work in a practical manner to experience and actively contribute to gaining new knowledge. It is also possible to find exciting topics for a thesis in other areas not listed here. We are always happy to receive motivated support and are happy to answer inquiries about open projects!

Master Thesis

The one-year master's thesis is designed as an in-depth module of the master's degree and offers insight into the complex topics of the daily work of our working group in the field of accelerator physics. As part of an independent research project in the areas of lasers and optics, including beam diagnostics, electronics, with a focus on the development and layout of electronic circuits, simulation of beam properties, design and development of accelerator components or medical physics, students have the opportunity to experience demanding scientific work and actively contribute to gaining new knowledge. It is also possible to find exciting topics for a thesis in other areas not listed here. We are always happy to receive motivated support and are happy to answer inquiries about open projects!

Doctorate

The doctorate represents the highlight of academic training and offers the opportunity to delve deeply into the diverse and challenging subject areas of accelerator physics. As part of a dissertation, complex issues can be developed and current research topics can be advanced. Doctoral candidates not only benefit from the intensive exchange with scientists in our working group and the University of Bonn, but also from international contacts that can be made at conferences and through stays abroad. They also have the opportunity to further develop their communication skills through teaching and outreach activities. The doctorate usually lasts between 3 and 5 years and can be thematically classified in all relevant areas of accelerator physics which offer exciting approaches to innovative and fundamental research. We support our doctoral students intensively and look forward to ambitious scientists who are ready to gain new insights in this fascinating field.
