Welcome to the website of the working group of Prof. Dr. Jochen Dingfelder.
Our group is engaged in physics analysis with the ATLAS and Belle/Belle II experiments as well as the development of semiconductor pixel detectors.
Jochen Dingfelder is the spokesperson of the Cluster of Excellence initiative "Color meets Flavor". The goal of Color meets Flavor is a comprehensive search for new phenomena in strong and weak interactions through a close collaboration between the hadron physics and the HEP/flavor physics communities.

Here are a few topics that our group is working on.
ATLAS
ATLAS is one of the four large detectors at the proton-proton collider LHC (Large Hadron Collider) at the European Center of Particle Physics CERN (Conseil Européen pour la Recherche Nucléaire). With ATLAS, we investigate the properties of the Higgs boson, search for Higgs pair production as well as new heavy particles such as additional Higgs bosons or new heavy gauge bosons.
Belle and Belle II
Our group participates in the Belle and Belle II experiments at KEK in Japan. Our main focus in flavor physics is the study of semileptonic and rare B-meson decays and the determination of CKM matrix elements.
Detector and Microelectronics Development
Our group is actively engaged in the development of semiconductor pixel detectors in our Silicon Lab (SILAB) at the Research and Technology Center Detector Physics (FTD). We have made significant contributions to the development and construction of the pixel detector for the Inner Tracker (ITk) upgrade of the ATLAS experiment and the DEPFET pixel detector for the Belle II experiment (together with the working group of Prof. Dr. Florian Bernlochner). In addition, we pursue various R&D projects, for instance in the areas of monolithic CMOS pixel detectors or thin hybrid detectors. Our group has a long-standing tradition in ASIC design for particle-physics experiments (ATLAS pixel detector, ATLAS ITk upgrade, Belle II) and applications outside of particle physics (e.g. X-ray imaging, fast electron imaging).
